“The main thing is we invite to our Grand Show. That’s a trend, actually,” Nepali Week Leader Mani said as a booth staff.

The cafeteria booth of Nepali Week was opened from Monday to Friday, except Wednesday, within the third period to the fifth period with two standby staffs by exhibiting Nepali products, cultures. Average 6 people came to visit for each period.

Nepali booth was decorated with a big Nepali temple drawing, and small, colorful, traditional flags above of booth, in addition, Nepali national flags in different sizes. Inside the booth, shown objects were Nepali products, dress code, pictures of famous places in Nepal, Lakhey dress code (Nepali demon god), religious stuff, and a small wooden window which can represent all windows in all traditional buildings in Nepal.

There is no any other place where all about a multicultural week can be covered in APU than cafeteria booth. Students can find any information of the week, experience with the culture of that country, for example, wear traditional clothes, get explanation from staffs about famous places and things with pictures.

In every multicultural week, the reason for most students going to the booth is to try that country’s traditional clothes and accessories. In Nepali week, 6 traditional clothes were shown. Unusually, there was only one simple clothing for men. It is called “Daura Suruwal”, which means “upper shirt and trousers”. The elements are a double-breasted shirt, a white trouser, and a vest or jacket. “Men wear this whatever the event is and the only accessory for men is the hat,” Mani said.

But women’s traditional dresses have numerous designs, various colors, and different usages. Even in the small Nepali booth in the cafeteria, 5 dresses were exhibited. And displaying of women’s accessories took a normal sized table in the booth.

Another table displayed Nepali made hats, socks, small purses, and Lakhey mask. Lakhey was also one of the main showing things of the booth. The face of the demon, long hair and the wild dance could attract people attention. Until last year, Lahkey dance was displayed just in front of the fountain. But this time, it could take scene on the Grand Show, according to the script of the show.

Visitors could get Nepali traditional hats by posting the photo, taken within the frame of the small wooden window in the booth, on Instagram or Facebook with hashtag Nepali Week 2018. “That hat can be used as a VIP ticket for the grand show,” Mani said.
