Taishi Sigieyama was worried and looked forward to entering the university where there are many international people like APU 3 years ago. However, he has a great life now in APU.



Taishi Sigeyama is APU fourth year student from Osaka Prefecture. When he was seventeen years old,he was informed about APU from his mother has a friend related to Ritsumeikan University.
Taishi had been interested in international school since he was a high school student. He tried to take examinations for entrance to other Japanese colleges and failed, but he was glad to be in APU student.

When Taishi moved into the AP House, there were a variety of residents. “ It was hard to talk with them in English but very stimulating,” he said. “I had a great time because I was able to make various friends.”

“When I lived in AP House, I saw a lot of stars with my floormates,” he said. “It was the most impressive memory in my APU life.”

However, living in Beppu city was inconvenient firstly for him who lived in the urban city. Then, he said, “ But I found some better points gradually, and I like Beppu now.”

Taishi has been practicing the violin since childhood, and he belongs to LIFE MUSIC, a music club at APU. It gave him opportunities to see new friends, and he gets along with members of the club.

Taishi participated in an internship at America when he was third-years student because he wanted to experience to work and he was interested in American culture. He explained that “at first, though I had a terrible image about the USA, it was erased as soon as I went there. It was very exciting in those days every day.”

Taishi is going to work at the company “BtoB” which produce toothbrushes, he is supposed to be assigned to sales with foreign companies. He has to live in Shizuoka prefecture next spring.

That work matched with business skills he learned, also it could require his English experiences, he explained. He has confidence in his ability that he learned through APU life.

Taishi plans to take part in many event in APU and Beppu city not to have regret while he has free time before graduation.

Finally, he said, “APU students should try something that they want to do, I’m sure that they cannot be regret.”
