Profile of Miyuki

Miyuki Tomonaga chose to pose holding a fancy square card with “sekai ichi”, which means “first in the world”. She thought using the card in a tea ceremony was funny. The tea ceremony makes people feel relaxed, but Sekai ichi makes people emotional.

Miyuki Tomonaga graduated from APU this fall, but she is still coming to Tea Ceremony Club until she starts her  job. Now she is working part-time and living with her family in Kannawa.

Normally, fourth-year students do not join another club because they cannot learn very much due to lack of time. However, she joined Tea Ceremony Club after finishing job hunting. Once or twice a week she went to practice with other senior students.

When she was a child, she often forgot something easily like after sleeping, and she was very positive. The personality doesn’t change yet. Her dream when she was a child was to be a beautician. However, she wants to live in a big house with some dogs and three children, and someday she hopes to go walking with her family. She is not sure when she will change her future plan, but her dream changed more realistic things with growing up her mind.
When she was an APU student, she joined some clubs. For example, Zero is a club related to African countries and Shao is a kind of volunteer club to help poor Chinese schools. However, she lived near Youme town before Kannawa, so she could not go to every meeting because her house was quite far from APU.
Last semester of her APU life, she joined Tea Ceremony Club. Originally, she knew there are Tea Ceremony Club since entering APU. She wanted to join, but She could not join it because her house was near youme Town, so it was far from APU. However, her family moved to Kannawa, and she could go home easily, so she decided to join the club.

She had the experience to do tea ceremony as a guest when she was a child. she remembers Japanese sweet and the quiet atmosphere in the room. However, she does not remember the taste of green tea. She said she might not have drunk it because it was too bitter. These memories inspired her to join the tea ceremony club.

“Tea ceremony is a culture to calm my mind”, she said. She could learn Japanese traditional manner and know the feeling of relaxing.
