The long awaited Nepali Week
was held at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, where students from all over
the world participated and enjoyed the vast and diverse forms of Nepali
cultures. From exotic cuisines to catchy bollywood-themed songs, there were a
lot of breathtaking events to cover at this year Nepali Week.
“I had no knowledge about
Nepali Week.” An APU’s first year student from Nepal, Kandel Hira Lal who
majors in APM was an organizer of Nepali Week in this year.
Kandel was in charge of the
Nepali booth at cafeteria as well as a backstage member for Grand Show held on Friday.
He had to decorate a booth at cafeteria for Nepali Week which a lot of people
fascinated by and visited because this booth was enveloped by Nepali
traditional theme of atmosphere and this was novelty for many people.
At Nepali booth, there was a
photo booth and lots of people took photos with traditional clothes. According
to Kandel, Nepali Week gave Nepali souvenir for people who took pictures there
and posted taken pictures on Instagram hashtag with NepaliWeek2018.
Through preparation for Nepali
Week, everything was difficult for him, Kandel said. It was his first time to
assume a role. He was scolded by other leaders because some of things were
going wrong and he was not used to organize. “However it was still a good
experience of me,” he said. “Because I could learn from mistakes.”
Kandel felt that it was the
best moment to be a leader of Nepali Week even though he thinks that he does
not have a good leadership skill. He tried to keep it up and tried hard to make
it succeed. Now, other Nepali Week leaders show appreciation towards him and
his hard work on it.
