“I am not doing part time job and will not do. But I am still earning extra
money” APS, 1st-year student Ryo Oikawa said.

He is not mentioning about getting a scholarship or receiving extra pocket
money from parents. He is doing a project that is called “Jinji dinner” on
his own. This project is not from classes or not homework from APU.

Ryo is from Kanagawa, Japan. He is a positive guy who has "spirit of
challenge". Besides that, he likes to speak whatever the matter is.
Willing to speak with foreigners became one of his reasons to APU.

His job is to make small “Career Forum”, especially for APU students
and Oita companies. “Oita Companies are not expecting APU students
to work, who can speak English and has many job opportunities to
work in their companies,” he said, “since there is very few Career Forum
in Oita, I want to improve the connection between students and
Oita companies.” APU students, who are willing to work in Oita,
need like his project event.

Ryo is a very well-planned person. He decided to continue this job for 2
years whatever it takes. The expectation for each time is to call 10
companies and make at least 30 students participate.

At 18, December, there will be first career forum in Beppu. He contacted
several companies and now, 3 companies are confirmed. He will get
50,000 yen from each company and pays the cost of rental of place and
dinners with a part of that money. This is the only one project he is doing.

Another one is called “Ota-REgion”, which is processing to build an
economy for Ota village near Oita. The purpose of this project is to do
business together and to improve the tourism industry. But there is no
other unique things or places for the tourism industry. And Ryo found
a simple solution, that is to experience the countryside life and get
touch with nature.

It is not done yet. Ryo is participating in APU’s two clubs, which are
APU buddy, which is supporting exchange students, and SMF, which
is organizing and making live shows in Oita. He is also doing boy-Scout
and Kendo too.

Basically, Ryo’s just earning money by meeting students and companies.
And he said that “I am going to provide part-time jobs for APU students
if my project succeeded after one year.”
