“I try to be confident because I have experienced many things.” Honoka Hayashi, a first-year marketing student at APU is in charge of APU fashion show in this year. She is one of leaders of APU fashion show and in charge of taking photos and videos. After taking pictures and videos of models, she posted them on social networking services such as Instagram.
Even though Hayashi is a first-year student, she has experienced many things before such as joining APU’s culture week and applying for an internship in Singapore.
Doing exchange year was a great experience for her, she said. When she was a high school student, she went to Canada for one year exchange program. However, she had so many difficulties over there. For instance, since her host family relationship was very complicated, Honoka was afraid to talk to her host family and ask them about themselves. Another reason why she was uncomfortable was that her host family had a surveillance camera in the kitchen. This frightened her.
When she has difficulty, at first she feels depressed and her self-esteem increases. After that, she tries to think what she has done and experienced before such as doing an internship in Singapore and learned the way to work as an employee in another country . This makes her feel confident. Since she has had so many great experiences, through back to her past successes and tough things she accomplished makes her being confident and she is able to overcome the difficulties she has.
By utilizing her experience such as studying in Canada and working foreign country, Honoka wants to make her dream come true which is being a trader between Japan and countries in South America. This is because in Japan, we do not meet culture and things from South America often, Honoka said. After learning at APU, it is her dream to work at trading company. At the same time establishing her own company is also a thing that she wants to achieve in her life. For this reason, Honoka is currently studying marketing.
When she first got into APU four months ago, she was impressed by a number of students who experienced many things. APU has a number of international students who launched own restaurants and started business. These vigorously acting students make APU reasonable and made Honoka shocked.
Honoka is still working on APU fashion show whose theme is APU × poverty. This fashion show will be held by only first-year students. This makes it very difficult to organize everything but, it will be a new experience for her, she says.
