Finding Apartments in Downtown
Isabela Contreras and Ashley Neira are looking for the apartments |
Ayaka Okamoto(The Fountain staff)
After APU students spent wonderful time
in AP house for a year, students have to
move out. Some students can be a resident
assistant (RA) and they can continue to live
there but others need to find a new apartment
off campus in downtown.
Real estate
Usually, students start looking for the house
before two months of moving out. Before looking
for the house they need to choose real estate
and contact with them. There are three real estates
agencies in Beppu: Betsudaikosan, Apaman shop,
and Creotech.
Betsudaikousan is in front of the Beppu post office.
Some students make a contract with them and
Teerawat Sukhanonsawas, APM, 1st, said that
some clerk in Betsudaikousan real estate can speak
English.
Apaman shop is in front of Marushoku supermarket
in Mochigahama. They have the home page for
foreigners in English but there are no Clark who
can speak English. Nguyen H. Hanh, APS, 2nd said
they cannot speak English.
Creotech is in the A building of APU campus. All of
their residents are APU students because Ritsumeikan
group established it, so they consider students life and
recommend apartments. They have the home page in
English and they explain from finding room and moving
out and difficult real estate glossary in both of Japanese
and English same as Apaman shop.
After students contact them and make an appointment,
students can choose the house and go there with the
clerk. Before you go you need to prepare like Nguyen.
She imagined house she wants to live and thought
about location and house fee. If you have imagined
and have preferences clerk can suggest good house
including location and house fee more easily and faster.
Location
Students care about convenience for them. Some
students want to live in the place near the shopping
center and others want to live in the place near the school.
If students want to live near the shopping center
or hospital, students should live around Mochigahama
because in Mochigahama there are shops and
restaurant like Hirose supermarket, Marushoku
supermarket, Max Valu supermarket. Also, there is
Beppu post office and Mochigahama is not so far
from Beppu station.
If students want to live near the school they
should live around Kamegawa. Janina Anni-Maria
Lehtinen living in Kamegawa said it takes for
15 minutes from Kamegawa to APU by bus. If students
go to APU from Beppu station by bus it takes about
for 40 minutes.
Carrying items
After finding apartments and made a contract
student have to carry all of their items and also some
student need to buy furniture like a bed, a shelf
and so on. Some students ask their senior or their
friend who has a car license to carry them by
car and others use moving service.
When Lehtinen goes to Nitori furniture
shop she asked her friends to help to carry futon.
Some students need to buy big items like futon
or bed same as Lehtinen. Of course, students can
ask their friends to help and also they can use
carrying service. When people buy some furniture
at Nitori shop they can send it to customer’s house.
This service charge for sending but it’s very
convenient.
There are some problems when international
students find apartments in downtown and it is
little hard for students but moving out and living
their own room is good. Yuka Sugimoto APM
moved out from AP house and live in her own
room now. She said that living in the apartment is
comfortable because I choose my room and furniture,
so it is more private space than AP house. Also,
she said “ That’s why I can concentrate on my
work and enjoy my life in downtown".
Thanks for writing! I know it was difficult for me to choose an apartment.
